Nitinol alloy is a binary alloy composed of nickel and titanium. Due to the change of temperature and mechanical pressure, there exist two different crystal structure phases, namely austenite phase and Martensite phase.The phase transition sequence of Nitinol alloy during cooling is the parent phase (Austenite phase) -R phase - Martensite phase.R phase is rhomboid, austenite is at higher temperature (greater than the same temperature at which the austenite starts), or at Deactivation, cube, rigid.The shape is stable.The martensite phase is a state of relatively low temperature (less than Mf: the temperature at which the martensite ends) or under loading (activated by external forces). It is hexagonal, malleable, repetitive, unstable and prone to deformation.
